15 days into writing! Wow, I'm halfway and I'm surprised I’ve gotten this far! I'm not a native English speaker; I’m Afrikaans. I love writing in both English and Afrikaans, but in university, my lecturers often told me my English writing was good but that I overused the passive voice. This gave me a bit of a complex.
That is what makes this "Write 30 in 30" challenge so amazing. My writing does not have to be perfect; it does not matter if I'm a bit heavy on the passive voice - it is, after all, drafts. I'm writing and publishing, getting my work out there, and slowly building my confidence. Most of all, I enjoy it.
When I started writing these stories, I did not have a personal website or blog yet, but I was so excited to start writing and take part in the "Write 30 in 30" challenge that I started writing my daily posts on plotfactory.com while I worked on my website.
Now, my personal website is launched, and my first 15 days of writing are published - and I am a wreck! My overthinking and social anxiety are in overdrive. My mind is screaming at me to take down my blog, but I’m not going to.
Writing for this challenge was not easy. It is hard to stick to the 30-minute time limit. It is even harder to write a compelling story in 30 minutes. I have so much more to tell and only 15 days left to share the stories I’ve wanted to tell for so long.
I don’t know where my writing journey will take me. I’m only now in the process of finding my voice. I haven’t even decided on a genre yet.
But - I know it is not going to be romantic novels!
